Today was simply amazing. As I learned yesterday, the architecture and greenery throughout the city is magnificent; however, no place I have visited pales in comparison.
We began the morning with an 8:00 AM quiz of our book In a Sunburned Country, then a small group of took a double-deck bus tour of Melbourne out to St. Kilna. Jack, Mitch, and I ate, explored alleyways and side streets, then met with out classmates at 12:30. We purchased tickets for city boat tours, and saw a street performance of the juggling variety. Jack was "randomly" chosen to assist, and I think we were all glad, because I for one would have struggled trying to juggle tennis balls... We toured both ends of the city by boat, then walked around the city and eventually made our way back to RMIT Village. Dinner was chicken and salad, and I have to say eating in and healthy never felt so good. With the majority of our group proceeding to the Crown Casino - the largest casino in the Southern Hemisphere; Jack, Grant, and I found a local pub called The Drunken Poet, and it did not disappoint. We drank several cold Australian beers, and met the regular locals who were from Australia and Ireland, and found out where in Melbourne we need to go. We were secretly told of a hidden, James Bond-esk basement bar called State of Grace, which requires pulling a book to slide the bookshelf entry aside. Needless to say that will be an upcoming adventure.
