Putting together videos from Tasmania and yesterday's epic adventure really made me realize just how amazing this trip has been... Today was a sleep-in day, who knew 9:00 would feel so good? We left at 3:00 for Bondi Beach, the South Beach of Sydney. This topless beach was, topless, and surfers were shreading some gnarly waves. We jumped right in, and I've honestly never experienced strong currents and waves as big as these... Every other wave was 5-8 feet, and the out-current between waves swept you off your feet. Luckily, there were jet ski patrols on the lookout for anyone who got swept out. We body-surfed twice: the first time ended with a wave that "shore-dumped" me, as they call it here. Think of tumbling with no control, and the wave slamming your face into the bottom sand, and your neck bending until your face firmly plants and the rest of your body catapults forward. Road rash is a pretty comparable feeling. The second round was slightly better, although the first round my resulted in more waves ridden into shore. We spotted some Germans with an American football, and ended up playing a 5 on 5 game with them, which drew what seemed to be half the beach's attention. Our team definitely lost, but I had some decent receptions and defensive plays. Had to compensate for the sub par body surfing somehow. We relaxed with the sunset setting the perfect ambiance, and ate an Italian dinner to finish the night. A relaxing beach day was just what the doctor ordered.
